Maidan and Crone Ceremony

Last February I had an insight that I want to create rite of passage ceremonies for people coming into their sexualhood. My vision was to guide these ceremonies for people who did not have a proper coming of age ceremony (which is majority of people in our country).

Many months ago I had a sexological bodywork client in her 60’s who said, “I don’t know who could do this, but I would really like a maiden ceremony” I tried to stay calm, but I couldn’t hide my enthusiasm. “Me! Me! Me! I want to guide your ceremony.”

I was blown away that I got to lead not only her maiden ceremony, but also her crone ceremony. I supported her on creating the perfect ceremonies for her. She invited 6 special friends and most of them were in their 60’s and 70’s. I was pinching myself by the honor of being surrounded by such a powerful and wise group of women.

The client came up with the brilliant idea that she wanted to first do the crone ceremony, and then her crone self would usher her maiden self through her ceremony.

I continue to realize and meet my grief and loss of my land based Celtic ancestry - the language, the songs, the land, and the rituals. Ceremonies and rituals are becoming more and more important for me - and because there is such is so much I don’t know, I am trusting my intuition and the courage to make it all up.

I have a desire to create more rites of passage ceremonies.
